
Toqa Eissa (she/her)
(b. 1998) is a visual artist and a curator's assistant who is based between Cairo and Vienna. Her practice focuses on themes of identity, community, and cultural exchange, often weaving humour and personal narratives into her exploration of human interactions and social structures.
She holds a master’s degree in Art and Science from the University of Applied Arts Vienna as well as, a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Arts from Helwan University. As part of her studies, she also received a grant to study Fine Arts for one year at the Cardiff Metropolitan School of Art and Design in Wales.

Through her work, Toqa reflects on the intersections of personal and collective memory, migration, decolonisation and the ways systemic structures impact individuals. Her approach often involves experimenting with different materials and techniques, blending traditional crafts with digital tools, where her work spans across mosaic, digital media, painting, papermaking and more.
Beyond her artistic practice, Toqa has participated in cultural exchange programs, such as the UNESCO workshop "African Diaspora in Dialogue" at Brunnenpassage in Vienna. She has also written for the Vienna Institute for International Dialogue and Cooperation (VIDC), exploring topics like migration, climate justice, and feminist foreign policy. She currently works as a curator’s assistant with Philomena+, contributing to artistic exchange programs that connect artists from the WANA region with the local community in Vienna.
