Inflated

Production Year: 2021

Size: 200 cm

Medium: Watercolour, ink and 3D print

Exhibited in: Cairo Operahouse, Palace of Art`s Youth Salon 2022

This artwork is inspired by the defense mechanism of the Pufferfish and how they are capable of utterly transforming their body when
they feel threatened. Which has gotten me thinking about how ironically, we too -humans- somewhat inflate in our own way when we
feel in danger. Each illustration in this artwork is made up of two transparent sheets of paper, the bottom paper is a watercolour painting
of a brain scan where the areas that get activated when our brain indicates danger are highlighted in warm tones. And on each of the
top papers is an ink drawing of an anatomical feature of the Pufferfish. The last part of the artwork was an experimental attempt to work
with 3D printing to create a model for the fish to give the viewer a better perspective.
