Light, within Islamic philosophy, symbolizes the divine presence in the world. It is extensively utilized in contemporary Islamic art, where illumination is especially present to underscore the sacredness of the scripture and evoke spiritual awe in readers. It is often also employed as a tool of censorship by devout individuals to prohibit illustrating images of Allah, the profit, or sometimes any sentient being. Art though, serves as a potent tool for liberation, resonating deeply with humanity and challenging societal norms. Today, censorship has become more violent. Taking place around many parts of the world. This artwork centres on western cemeteries to Palestinian voices as a research focus point. Reflecting the ongoing injustices and raising critical questions: who decides the limits of artistic expression, rising racism, and hatred of Muslims, and who enforces the veiling light today? This artwork is inspired by the defense mechanism of the Pufferfish and how they are capable of utterly transforming their body when they feel threatened. Which has gotten me thinking about how ironically, we too -humans- somewhat inflate in our own way when we feel in danger. Each illustration in this artwork is made up of two transparent sheets of paper, the bottom paper is a watercolour painting of a brain scan where the areas that get activated when our brain indicates danger are highlighted in warm tones. And on each of the top papers is an ink drawing of an anatomical feature of the Pufferfish. The last part of the artwork was an experimental attempt to work with 3D printing to create a model for the fish to give the viewer a better perspective.

During my year in Cardiff Metropolitan University, we took some of our lectures in the School of Management building. After a couple of visits, I noticed how the Business students would observe the Art students with foreign looks, as if we somewhat come from a different breed. I dedicated this interactive installation to inviting the School of Management students into making an attempt towards making art; introducing the thought that art is not foreign nor, scary and is certainly for everyone. The passers by used the markers and tools provided to scribble, draw, doodle or write a random thought onto the artwork that was placed on one of the notice boards directery facing the enterance of the building.
